HOW DUOLINGO CAN PROMOTE ACQUIRING FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING

چکیده مقاله
Due to the advancement of technology and its impact on life, especially in the field of foreign language education, the learning process has become much easier. This research is about learning a foreign language through the Duolingo application that interview and evaluation methods have been used. Duolingo is an American language-learning website and mobile app. Users can practice vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and listening skills using spaced repetition. The company uses a freemium model (the app and the website are accessible without charge) with over 500 million registered users. Duolingo is a program designed and provided to users for teaching and learning different languages and this application includes various exams and tests. This is a case study research with three participants and the length of study is six week. In this article, the method of evaluation and questionnaire, advantages and disadvantages of Duolingo are explained. In the end, the results show that due to the limitations that Duolingo has, it can help learners in learning the language at the elementary level.
